  2. Update the software associated with the error message. Open up the “Control Panel.” Choose “System and Security.” Select “Allow a program through Windows Firewall.” The Window’s Firewall controls data being downloaded to the computer. Click on the “Change Settings” button. Check-mark the box next to the name of the software program associated with the error message. Click “OK” and close the program.
  3. Update the operating system. Operating system updates are critical if the computer is to operate without problems. When operating systems are installed, they are automatically set up to receive important system updates. However, the update settings can become compromised or accidentally removed. Go to the operating system manufacturer’s website and search for updates. The website will have instructions for setting up automatic updates as well.
  4. Run “Disk Cleanup.” Click on the “Start” button. In the program menu, select “Accessories.” Choose “System Tools.” Select “Disk Cleanup.” Select all choices in the pop-up window. Click “OK.” A second window appears. Click “Delete Files.”
